We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a

Copernicus Sentinel-3 & 6 Analysts and Controllers Team

You will be based initially for 5 years at our client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities.

Your Tasks:

The Analysts/Controllers tasks shall cover the following:

ANALYSTS

  • Co-ordination of the scheduled day-to-day activities in the Control Centre and all manned facilities of the Copernicus S3/S6 systems, according to established roles and procedures, in particular acting as the interface between the Controller Team and Operations and Maintenance Engineers;
  • Perform the weekly system scheduling function, gathering all operations and maintenance inputs and conducting initial conflict resolution;
  • Spacecraft and ground segment database maintenance;
  • Support to mission planning and scheduling co-ordination according to established roles and procedures;
  • The routine Copernicus S3/S6 mission planning;
  • Support the configuration and tuning of the mission data chain, and associated monitoring tools;
  • Operations support (including procedure and database update, ops validation) to system evolution e.g., GS update, and control room evolution;
  • Support the configuration and tuning of the system monitoring tools, in particular GEMS, SMART and OP5;
  • Support the operations related interaction with Client’s partner agencies (ESA, CNES etc) as regards planning and scheduling of space and ground operations;
  • Operation of the configuration control system for procedures and operational data;
  • Update of database documentation as necessary;
  • Supervision of routine operations or any other authorised operations. following established roles and procedures;
  • Maintenance of the Special Operations Instruction set and Copernicus S3/S6 Knowledgebase;
  • Participate in BUCC periodic and emergency activations;
  • Maintenance of appropriate working practices and procedures for routine and problem reporting, data analysis, recording and maintenance of system status, recording of operational activities;
  • Maintenance of a set of configuration-controlled reference operational documentation and ensure changes are applied operationally including the Reference Operations Plan, the Contingency Guide and Analyst Guide;
  • Analysis as required of system anomalies by collection and evaluation of appropriate data sets using the reporting and analysis tools available;
  • Mission performance data analysis and reporting (day-to-day tracking of mission performance for anomaly investigation and reporting purposes) including related third-party mission;
  • Preparation of regular performance reports as required;
  • Preparation of specific performance reports for Operations Partner Agencies (NOAA. CNES etc.) in accordance with established operations procedures;
  • Organisation of the activities within the Analyst Team;
  • Organisation and supervision of the operations Controller Team;
  • Act as management interface between Client technical representative and the Controller Team.

CONTROLLERS

  • Coordinate the implementation of day-to-day scheduled and contingency operations in the control centre;
  • Monitor and control all Copernicus S3/S6 operations, in accordance with the scheduled operations plan, ensuring that safety criteria are respected and that all operations are conducted in accordance with the established procedures;
  • Monitor the timeliness / completeness / correctness of the mission data throughput, using the Client tools (including GEMS / SMART), reacting to problems according to the operations documentation;
  • Perform specific operations as defined in the relevant operations plans;
  • Act as primary interface for collision warning operations matters with ESOC and the EUMETSAT FDF operation team;
  • Activate the TT&C Ground station network(s) for routine and emergency activations;
  • Participate in BUCC periodic and emergency activations;
  • Perform first line reporting and analysis of ground and space segment anomalies in accordance with established procedures;
  • Immediately inform the Client’s technical representative when a major or critical anomaly is detected in accordance with the established procedures;
  • Coordinate with the responsible personnel for any scheduling required;
  • Prepare operations reports as requested;
  • Take corrective action as necessary, applying the contingency/emergency procedures approved for the mission to ensure spacecraft safety and the continuity of service provision to users;
  • Assist in the production of printouts, graphs and plots for off-line evaluation and analysis;
  • Maintain an operations logbook recording all key events of the shift;
  • Management of the TM & TC archive and retrievals;
  • Prepare and complete all necessary forms for routine daily operations;
  • Provide first level point of contact for Client operational partners for non-routine interactions immediately informing the Client’s technical representative (or assigned deputy).
  • Participation during the routine phase of the mission in proficiency training and simulations.
  • Contribution to the operations preparation activities, including development and validation of procedure,
  • Contribution to satellite and ground system upgrade including operations adaptation,
  • Certification achievement.

 

Your Profile:

ANALYSTS

Experience of:

  • Complex space and ground system in the field of Earth Observation
  • Operations in real-time satellite and/or ground segment operations according to established procedures
  • Planning, scheduling of system activities, in coordination with various operational entities
  • Co-ordination and supervision of system activities execution,
  • Monitoring and co-ordination of operations with external operation entities
  • Monitoring and reporting of system performance
  • Conducting of first level investigation and recovery
  • Shift team and on-call rotation management
  • Configuration and anomaly management
  • Providing initial training, continuation and proficiency training to operations team
  • Maintenance of space and ground segment operational products
  • Using computer systems and real-time systems, application of procedures in operational environments
  • Conducting operations in an orderly and disciplined manner, and ability to work calmly and correctly under stress

MISSION ANALYST

As above (Analyst) plus Experience of:

  • Development and validation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) tracking tools
  • End to end monitoring tools installations and maintenance
  • Monitoring and reporting of End to End data production processes performance, including Timeliness Processing & Dissemination

SERVICE CHAIN ANALYST

As above (Analyst) plus Experience of:

  • Monitoring and reporting of System level processes performance
  • Monitoring tools installations and maintenance, in particular for OP5, Nagios, GEMS, GSMC

SPACECRAFT ANALYST

As above (Analyst) plus Experience of:

  • Development and validation of S/C operations procedure and associated database
  • Familiar with MCS in particular SCOS
  • S/C operations execution according to established procedures
  • Monitoring of S/C performance and conduction of first level investigations

CONTROLLERS

Experience of:

  • Operations of complex space and ground system in the field of Earth Observation,
  • Working in Continuous shift operations 24h/7
  • Satellite and Ground system operations execution according to established procedures
  • Using computer systems and real-time systems, application of procedures in operational environments
  • Conducting operations in an orderly and disciplined manner, and work calmly and correctly under stress

 Should have good background in a scientific or technical discipline to the level equivalent to Senior Technician
